Niagara Falls, Ontario - The Professional Hockey Players’ Association (PHPA) and ECHL, in association with The MeiGray Group, are pleased to announce that the 13th Annual Captains’ Club Jersey Auction which benefits the ECHL Health and Welfare Trust Fund is now underway.
Game-worn ECHL Captain sweaters from the 2016-17 season are currently being auctioned online at MeiGrayAuctions.com. The auction is scheduled to end beginning at 9 p.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 9.
The Captain’s Club Jersey Auction was initiated in 2004 to help fund the ECHL Heath and Welfare Trust, which provides ECHL players and their families with access to counseling services when dealing with personal and behavioral health concerns or assistance with a specific hardship.
“The Captains’ Club jersey auction is a great way for fans and collectors alike to obtain game-worn memorabilia, while directly supporting ECHL players and their families,” said PHPA Executive Director, Larry Landon. “Captains are leaders and greatly respected by their teammates. This strong bond allows them to encourage their teammates to seek assistance for matters that require extra attention both on and off the ice.”
“These jerseys are symbols of each team's leadership,” said MeiGray President Barry Meisel. “We're proud that proceeds will go to such a worthy cause.”
MeiGray has worked with the ECHL and the PHPA since 2001 and authenticates for the National Hockey League, the National Basketball Association, and USA Hockey.
