ECHL announces fine, suspension

The ECHL on Friday announced that South Carolina’s Andrew Cherniwchan has been suspended for three games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #122, Reading at South Carolina, on Nov. 8.

Cherniwchan is fined and suspended under Rule #28 – Supplementary Discipline, as a result of an elbowing infraction at 3:48 of the first period.

Cherniwchan will miss South Carolina’s games vs. Atlanta (Nov. 10 and Nov. 11) and at Jacksonville (Nov. 14).

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player’s Hardship Fund.
