The Idaho Steelheads became just the second team in ECHL postseason history to win a best-of-seven series after dropping the first three games when they defeated the Allen Americans 4-1 in Game 7 of their Mountain Division Semifinals series at CenturyLink Arena.
Idaho joins the 2010 Cincinnati Cyclones, who rallied to defeat Reading in the American Conference Finals, as the only ECHL teams to win a series after trailing 0-3.
Brady Brassart opened the scoring 10:06 into the contest with his second goal of the series and Tommy Thompson extended the Steelheads' lead to 2-0 with his first playoff goal at 10:00 of the second period. Allen got on the scoreboard on a Zach Pochiro tally 6:20 into third period but empty-net tallies from Jefferson Dahl and Jack Nevins in the closing minute iced the game for Idaho.
Idaho was in the series by Max French who tallied three goals and Cole Ully who posted seven points (1g-6a). Philippe Desrosiers went 4-1 in six appearances with a 1.84 goals-against average.
David Makowski led Allen in the series with four goals and seven points.
Idaho will meet the defending Kelly Cup champion Colorado Eagles in the Mountain Division Finals. Last year, the Eagles defeated the Steelheads 4 games to 1 in the Division Semifinals.
