Everblades advance to Conference Finals

The Florida Everblades moved on to the Eastern Conference Finals on Sunday with a 5-2 win at Orlando in Game 5 of the South Division Finals.

Florida will meet the winner of the Adirondack/Manchester series in the Eastern Conference Finals. That series is tied 2-2 with Game 5 set later today at Manchester. This marks the Everblades' first trip to the Conference Finals since the team captured the Kelly Cup in 2012.

The Everblades scored three first period goals on Sunday to take control of the game early. Michael Kirkpatrick had a goal and an assist while Martin Ouellette made 40 saves to record the win in goal.

Mitchell Heard (3g-4a) and John McCarron (2g-5a) led the Everblades in the series with seven points each. Ouellette went 4-0 in his four appearances with a 1.26 goals-against average and a save percentage of .959.

Chris LeBlanc had a team-leading four goals in the series for the Solar Bears while Hunter Fejes had a team-high six points (1g-5a).
