The Los Angeles Kings have named Manchester Monarchs Head Coach Richard Seeley the general manager for their American Hockey League affiliate, the Ontario Reign.
Seeley served as Monarchs' head coach for three seasons, leading the club to the Kelly Cup Playoffs each season, and to the North Division title in 2015-16. In three seasons with Manchester, he compiled an overall record of 117-73-26.
Prior to beginning his coaching career, Seeley played four seasons with the Monarchs in the AHL from 2001-04, and again in 2005-06. He was the second captain in team history and played in 249 games with the club, recording 57 points (11g-46a) and adding 349 penalty minutes. A sixth-round selection (137th overall) of the Kings in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Seeley also saw AHL time with Lowell, Bridgeport and Norfolk. He spent the final five seasons of his playing career in Europe, playing for teams in the United Kingdom, Germany and Austria.
