INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – Kansas City Mavericks head coach John-Scott Dickson announced the signing of veteran forward Rocco Carzo for the 2018-19 season.
The Mavericks are the ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League and the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League.
The 2018-19 campaign will be Carzo’s fourth with the Mavericks. His season last year was cut short due to a lower body injury in November, limiting him to just 12 games.
Carzo, 28, first joined the Mavericks for the Brabham Cup-winning 2015-16 season. In total, Carzo has donned a Mavericks sweater in 159 games, tallying 116 points (41g-75a) and a +11 rating. The Media, Pennsylvania native has been an alternate captain in each of the last two seasons.
He began his professional career in the 2013-14 season. He split his first two years in the league between the Florida Everblades and Ontario Reign before finding his way to Kansas City.
Throughout his career, Carzo has totaled 314 games between regular season and and the playoffs, scoring 215 points (81g-134a). He has served as an alternate captain in each of the past two seasons for the Mavericks.
Carzo has earned three trips to the AHL in his professional career, first with Norfolk in 2014-15, then with San Diego in 2015-16 and Bridgeport in 2016-17. In college, Carzo suited up in 128 career games at the University of Massachusetts, recording 48 points (18g-30a).
