Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Bakersfield Condors, announced the signing of forward Greg Chase for the 2018-19 season.
Chase, 23, was assigned to Wichita last season by the Oilers and appeared in 17 games. He registered 17 points (7g-10a) before he was traded to the Florida Panthers in mid-December. Chase finished the season with the AHL's Springfield Thunderbirds, collecting five points (2g-3a) in 24 games.
The Sherwood Park, Alberta native isn't a stranger to the ECHL, playing in 43 games for the Norfolk Admirals in 2015-16, collecting 37 points (18g-17a) as well as playing in 19 games for the Bakersfield that same season. He spent the entire 2016-17 season with the Condors, recording 14 points (3g-11a) in 48 games. Overall, Chase has piled up 54 points (25g-29a) in 60 games in the ECHL. He also has 97 games of AHL experience, tallying 27 points (7g-20a).
A seventh-round selection of the Oilers in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Chase had a productive junior career in the Western Hockey League with the Calgary Hitmen. His best season was in 2013-14 when he racked up 85 points (35g-50a) in 70 games. Overall, he registered 221 points (78g-143a) in 265 games. Chase also played for the Canada Pacific U17 team in 2011-12 and added six points (1g-5a) in five games.
