Toledo, Ohio – Defenseman Ryan Obuchowski has agreed to terms for the 2018-19 season with the Toledo Walleye.
The Walleye are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Detroit Red Wings and the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins.
Obuchowski, a West Bloomfield, Michigan native, appeared in every regular season and playoff game for the Walleye last season for a total of 82 contests. He scored 35 points (5g-30a) during his 72 games in the regular season while collecting 50 penalty minutes. The 26-year-old led the Walleye with an impressive +28, the fourth highest mark achieved by a player in Walleye history. In his first professional season, Obuchowski was a member of the Missouri Mavericks where he posted 16 points (2g-14a) over 69 contests.
Obuchowski attended Yale University from 2012-16, appearing in 134 games with 52 points (16g-36a), 60 penalty minutes and a cumulative +42. He was a member of the 2012-13 Bulldogs squad that won the NCAA championship. In that same season, he was named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team. Prior to his college days, he spent two years in the United States Hockey League with the Indiana Ice, accounting for 54 points (12g-42a) in 114 games.
