Overall, O'Donnell has appeared in 93 games with the Cyclones, accounting for 86 points (33g-53a).

His ECHL career has also seen stops with the Greenville Road Warriors and Florida Everblades where he totaled 12 points (4g-8a) in 17 games between the two clubs. He also skated in 12 playoff games with the Everblades in 2013, dishing out a pair of assists. A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, O'Donnell has spent the bulk of his career in the AHL, appearing in 135 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack and Milwaukee Admirals, totaling 18 points (7g-11a) in that span.

Prior to turning pro late in the 2012-13 season, O'Donnell spent four years at St. Mary's University in Canada. He was responsible for 62 points (24g-38a) in 103 career games, including a career-high 26 points (14g-12a) during his senior season in 2012-13.
