Walsh agrees to terms with Royals

Reading, Pa. – The Reading Royals, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers and American Hockey League's Lehigh Valley Phantoms, agreed to terms with forward Shane Walsh on a contract for the 2018-19 season.

The 26-year-old native of West Roxbury, Massacusetts split last season between Cincinnati and Greenville, scoring 22 points (7g-15a) in 44 combined games.

A late-season offensive burst catapulted Walsh with Greenville last season. The Swamp Rabbits acquired him in Jan. 2018 from the Cyclones for future considerations. He scored 14 points (5g-9a) over the season’s final 18 games.

As a rookie, Walsh accumulated 45 points (19g-26a) in 71 games split between Utah and Cincinnati. For his ECHL career, Walsh has skated in 115 games, recording 67 points (26g-41a).

The UMass-Amherst graduate skated at the NCAA level from 2012-16. As a senior, Walsh led the Minutemen with 30 points (18g-12a) in 36 games. Among notable achievements, he scored the game winning goal in the fifth overtime of a 4-3 victory against Notre Dame to complete the longest game in NCAA Division I college history on March 7, 2015. Walsh played in 133 games and tallied 67 points (36g-31a) for UMass.
