Former ECHL coach Geoff Ward was named interim head coach of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames on Friday.
Ward served as head coach for the Arkansas RiverBlades for 26 games during the 1999-2000 season. Following that stint, he spent time in Germany in both the DEL and DEL2, as well as the American Hockey League, including time as head coach in Hamilton, Toronto and Edmonton.
He joined the staff of the Boston Bruins for the 2007-08 season, where he remained through 2013-14, capturing a Stanley Cup title in 2011.
Ward returned to the NHL with the New Jersey Devils in 2015-16 and is in his second season as part of the Flames' coaching staff.
