The ECHL on Thursday announced that Michael Houser of the Cincinnati Cyclones is the recipient of the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Year award for 2018-19.
The Warrior Hockey Goaltender of the Year award is presented annually to the goaltender selected to be the best at his position as determined in a vote of ECHL coaches, broadcasters, media relations directors and media members.
Tomas Sholl of Idaho finished second, followed by Atlanta’s Sean Bonar, Devin Williams of Tulsa and Kansas City’s Mason McDonald.
The winner of the Most Valuable Player award will be announced on Friday.
Houser, who was named to the All-ECHL First Team last week, went 29-7-5 with two shutouts in 41 appearances for the Cyclones, tying for the league lead in wins. He finished second in the ECHL with a 2.13 goals-against average and was fourth with a .922 save percentage.
Under an American Hockey League contract with Rochester, Houser has appeared in 184 career ECHL games with Cincinnati, Fort Wayne and Manchester posting an overall record of 111-52-17 with nine shutouts, a 2.50 goals-against average and a save percentage of .916.
