Hakanpaa makes NHL debut

Hakanpaa makes NHL debut

Former Quad City Mallards' defenseman Jani Hakanpaa became the 676th former ECHL player to reach the NHL when he debuted with the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday at Colorado.

Hakanpaa is the 14th former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2019-20 season. He tallied one goal in two games with the Mallards during the 2014-15 season.

The 27-year-old has posted 33 points (7g-26a) in 179 career American Hockey League games with San Diego, Chicago and Peoria. He spent the previous playing with Karpat in the Finnish Elite League.
