Admirals add veteran defenseman Monfredo

NORFOLK, Va. —  The Norfolk Admiral announced they have signed defenseman Mike Monfredo to a contract for the 2020-21 season. Monfredo, 30, will enter his ninth season as a professional with the Admirals.

The Shirley, New York native is coming off a 2019-20 campaign that saw him split time with the Orlando Solar Bears and Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Monfredo started the season for Orlando before he was traded to Greenville on Dec. 13. He posted 19 points (5g-14a) in 46 games between the two clubs.

Monfredo started his pro career in 2012-13 with the Quad City Mallards, where he went on to record 131 points (28g-103a) in 312 games before he was traded to the Rapid City Rush during the 2016-17 season. Monfredo joined Orlando prior to the 2017-18 season, and he totaled 54 points (16g-38a) in 152 games with the Solar Bears.
