RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Rapid City Rush, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Arizona Coyotes, announced that veteran forward Joey Sides has been signed for the 2020-21 season.
Sides last played professional hockey as a member of the Kansas City Mavericks in the 2018-19 season. He appeared in 57 games for the Mavericks, and earned 46 points (19g-27a) while adding seven points (2g-5a) in seven games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Sides is no stranger to Rapid City, having played with the Rush in their inaugural ECHL season in 2014-15. A native of Sun Valley, Idaho, Sides enters his 10th season of professional hockey. Over the last decade, his career has taken him all over the world to the BeNeLiga in the Netherlands, the EIHL in Scotland, and the American Hockey League, Central Hockey League and ECHL in North America. In his ECHL career, Sides has career totals of 188 points (81g-107a) in 278 games with the Rush, Mavericks, Tulsa Oilers, Wichita Thunder, Reading Royals and Colorado Eagles.
Prior to turning professional, Sides played college hockey at Wentworth Institute of Technology, compiling 85 points (32g-53a) in 90 games while serving as captain of the Leopards for the final three seasons.
