Day makes NHL debut

Former Maine Mariners' defenseman Sean Day became the 711th former ECHL player to reach the National Hockey League when he debuted with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday against Montreal.

Day is the 13th former ECHL player to make his NHL debut during the 2021-22 season. He totaled 35 points (9g-26a) in 55 games with the Mariners during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.

A third-round selection (81st overall) of the New York Rangers in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Day has totaled 46 points (9g-37a) in 110 career games in the American Hockey League with Hartford and Syracuse.
