Americans add pair of SPHL champions

Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans announced the team has signed forward Marcel Godbout and defenseman Lord-Anthony Grissom for the 2022-23 season. Both players are coming off a Southern Professional Hockey League President's Cup title with the Peoria Rivermen in 2021-22.

Godbout joins the Americans after leading the Rivermen with 33 goals and finishing third on the team with 61 points on his way to earning SPHL Rookie of the Year honors. During Peoria's run to the championship, he added 12 points (6g-6a) in 10 playoff games. He played four seasons of junior hockey in the United States Hockey League with five different teams.   

Grissom collected six points (3g-3a) in 12 regular-season games with Peoria before adding nine points (3g-6a) in 10 playoff contests. Prior to joining the Rivermen late last season, he skated four seasons at Aurora University where he totaled 22 points (4g-18a) in 86 career games.
