Lagunov joins Cyclones

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones announced that the team has signed forward Phil Lagunov to a contract for the 2022-23 season.Lagunov, 23, enters his rookie season with five years of NCAAexperience and a brief stint in the American Hockey League at the end of last season with the Tucson Roadrunners.

A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Lagunov played four seasons at UMass, helping the Minutemen to Hockey East titles in 2019 and 2021. He scored a goal in the National Championship Game against St. Cloud State in 2021 to help UMass capture its first National Championship. He left UMass ahead of 2021-22 season to join University of Vermont where he registered a career-high 16 points (8g-8a) in 35 games. All told, Lagunov totaled 54 points (24g-30a) 164 career collegiate games.

Lagunov made his pro debut following the completiong of his season at Vermont, skating in four games with Tucson, registering a +1 rating and two penalty minutes.He played his junior hockey in the Ontario Junior A Hockey League, mostly with Burlington for two seasons. Was coached by Alex Bezerra, who was an Assistant Coach with Burlington at that time. Lagunov had his best junior season in 2016-17 season, posting 55 points (27g-28a) in 51 games.
