Norfolk, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Winnipeg Jets and American Hockey League's Manitoba Moose, announced the team has signed forward Sanghoon Shin to a contract for the 2024-25 season.
The Seoul, South Korea native spent last season in the Asia League with HL Anyang, serving as the team’s alternate captain. He totaled 34 points (16g-18a) in 32 regular-season games as the club went on to win the Asia League championship.
Shin burst onto the North American scene in 2021 with the Atlanta Gladiators, where he played two seasons. He recorded 74 points (43g-31a) in in 101 games with the Gladiators.
The 31-year-old represented South Korea at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea and also won three medals representing his country throughout numerous tournaments.
Shin is just the second Korean-born player to suit up in the ECHL, joining Daniel Kim, who played three seasons in the early 2000s.
