Bison ink trio of players

Bloomington, Ill. - The Bloomington Bison announced the signings of forwards Jamie Engelbert, Matthew Cassidy and Matthew Philip.

Engelbert, 24, skated in 28 games last season with Providence College scoring 11 points (7g-4a) with 16 penalty minutes and a +3 rating. He totaled 45 points (24g-21a) and 96 penalty minutes in 145 career games with the Friars.

Cassidy, 25, competed with Ohio State University over the past four seasons dressing in 103 games totaling 21 points (4g-17a) with 85 penalty minutes. In 2019-20, he appeared in 49 games with the Youngstown Phantoms in the United States Hockey League, potting 36 points (19g-17a) and adding 75 penalty minutes. He finished second on the team in goals and points while ranking third on the team in penalty minutes. 

Philip, 25, played the last three seasons with St. Francis Xavier University where he collected 61 points (30g-31a) and 69 penalty minutes in 63 games. In his first season, he ranked second on the team in goals and third in points. The Ilderton, Ontario native played in the Ontario Hockey League from 2016-20 between the Niagara IceDogs and Owen Sound Attack, totaling 118 points (59g-59a) in 227 games.
