Oilers add Henry

TULSA, Okla. —The Tulsa Oilers, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Anaheim Ducks and the American Hockey League’s San Diego Gulls, announced the signing of rookie forward Matthew Henry for the 2025-26 season.    

Henry embarks on his professional career following a two-season Western Hockey League career with the Brandon Wheat Kings, whe he registered three points (2g-1a) and 240 penalty minutes in 94 games. The 21-year-old's 140 penalty minutes in 57 games with the Wheat Kings in 2022-23 led the WHL. 

The Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native began his junior career during the 2021-22 season with Battlefords of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, recording 16 points (4g-12a) and 216 penalty minutes in 52 regular-season games. Before entering its SJHL program, Henry spent two seasons with Battlefords U18 ‘AAA’ program.
