Steelheads agree to terms with Richards

BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho Steelheads, ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced that the club has signed forward Jens Richards to a contract for the 2026-27 season.

Richards, 24, enters his first full ECHL campaign after appearing in seven games for the Fort Wayne Komets last season, where he notched an assist and a +2 rating.

Prior to professional hockey, Richards played four seasons at the University of Vermont, racking up 46 points (24g-22a) in 121 games. He grabbed 10 points (4g-6a) in 24 games in his senior season to notch the second double-digit season of his collegiate career.

Before joining the college ranks, the Callaway, Minnesota native played two seasons in the North American Hockey League with the Austin Bruins, picking up 54 points (25g-29a) in 100 career games.
