TOLEDO, Ohio – Goaltender Matt Jurusik returns to the Toledo Walleye after agreeing to terms for the 2026-27 season.
The 29-year-old originally joined the Walleye last December, going 9-3-4 with a 2.27 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage in 16 appearances during the regular season in his first action on American soil since the 2021-22 season.
Prior to last season, he had spent three seasons playing in the KHL, going 22-42-4 with a 3.03 goals-against average, a .920 save percentage and six shutouts in 80 appearances with Kunlun Red Star and Amur Khabarovsk. Prior heading overseas, he appeared in 22 American Hockey League games during 2021-22 with Texas and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, going 10-6-4 with a 2.95 goals-against average, a .901 save percentage and one shutout. He also split parts of two ECHL seasons between South Carolina and Idaho, and following last season’s return with Toledo, he carries a 17-11-6 record, a 2.31 goals-against average, a .922 save percentage and two shutouts in 36 ECHL career ECHL games into this season.
Prior to turning pro, he split his collegiate career, playing his first two collegiate seasons (2015-17) at the University of Wisconsin, then playing his final two college campaigns (2018-20) at Michigan Tech.
