RIO RANCHO, N.M. – The New Mexico Goatheads, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche and American Hockey League’s Colorado Eagles, announced that the team has signed forward German Yavaș to a contract for the 2026-27 season.
Yavaș joins New Mexico after splitting the 2025-26 season between the Norfolk Admirals and Tulsa Oilers, appearing in 46 combined games and recording four points (1g-3a) with 65 penalty minutes.
The 23-year-old began his professional career with Norfolk in 2024-25, recording nine points (6g-3a) and 68 penalty minutes in 45 games. He also appeared in three games during the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs, accumulating 17 penalty minutes.
A native of Minsk, Belarus, Yavaș came to the United States in 2021 to continue his hockey career. He spent time with the Fargo Force and Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League, recording 23 points (9g-14a) with Fargo before totaling eight goals and 100 penalty minutes in 46 games with Lincoln during the 2023-24 season.
