WINDSOR, Colo. – The Colorado Eagles, ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced that they have agreed to terms with forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel for the 2016-17 season.
The 27-year-old center won a Kelly Cup championship last season with the Allen Americans, collecting 47 points (15g-32a) in 58 regular-season games and adding another 16 points (7g-9a) in 24 playoff contests.
A third-round selection (80th overall) of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Pierro-Zabotel has posted 344 points (105g-239a) in 406 career ECHL games and was named to the ECHL All-Star Game in 2013, which was played in Colorado. In addition, Pierro-Zabotel has also appeared in 17 AHL contests, netting one goal and two assists with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Charlotte Checkers and Norfolk Admirals.
The Kamloops, British Columbia native enjoyed a highly-decorated career at the major junior level, leading the Western Hockey League in assists (79) and points (115) in 72 games during his final season with the Vancouver Giants in 2008-09. He went on to be named to the WHL and CHL West All-Star Teams during that same season. In total, Pierro-Zabotel generated 163 points (55g-108a) in 121 WHL contests. Prior to that, he was named the Most Valuable Player of the BCHL in 2007 when he amassed 116 points (51g-65a) in just 55 games with the Merritt Centennials.
