The ECHL on Sunday announced that Hank Crone of the Allen Americans has won the league scoring championship with 105 points (49g-56a). He is the first rookie to lead the ECHL in scoring since Elmira’s Dustin Gazley in 2011-12.
Allen’s Jack Combs finished second with 95 points (36g-59a) while Greenville’s Alex Ierullo (27g-60a) and Newfoundland’s Zach O’Brien (23g-64a) were tied for third with 87 points each. Cody Sylvester of Atlanta finished fifth with 86 points (38g-48a).
Crone, who was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team and the All-ECHL First Team last week, became the first ECHL player to score at least 100 points since his current head coach, Chad Costello, notched 122 points with Allen in 2016-17. He is the 70th player in the ECHL’s 35-year history to hit the century mark in points.
In addition, he led ECHL rookies, and was tied for second overall with 16 power-play goals and led the league with 39 power-play points.
