NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Washington Capitals and Amerian Hockey League's Hershey Bears, announced that the club has signed forwards Ryan Leibold and Ian Mackey to contracts for the 2023-24 season.
Leibold returns to South Carolina for his first full season of professional hockey. The Ashburn, Virginia native tallied four points (1g-3a) in nine games with the Stingrays last season.
Before joining the Stingrays in March, Leibold spent last season with Merrimack College as a graduate student. Leibold helped Merrimack reach the Hockey East championship game and earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the program's history. Before transferring to Merrimack, Leibold spent four years with the College of the Holy Cross Crusaders where he registered 70 points (24g-46a) in 157 games.
Mackey rejoins the Stingrays after recording three points (2g-1a) in eight games with the team last season.
