ECHL: Congratulations on winning the CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week! This is the second time you’ve won this award – the first being January 28-February 3rd of 2013. What would you say has changed most about your game since then?Kent Simpson: Nothing specifically, every year you try to work on your game to improve yourself and get better.ECHL: With your two shutouts last week, you helped your team set a new ECHL record for longest team shutout streak. What does it mean to you to be a part of a record setting team? KS: It’s pretty cool. It’s always cool any time you can be in the record books for something and the whole team definitely earned that together.ECHL: What professional goaltender would you say you model your game after? KS: I like watching a lot of goalies but Carey Price is one that I’ve watched more than others, I’ve watched a lot of him, he’s pretty dominant.ECHL: You have one game of NHL experience under your belt. What do you think you need to work on most to get back to that level of play? KS: I think every day I’m working on my game, trying to improve. Every time you step on the ice you’re trying to improve your consistency. I think the biggest thing that makes the difference between an NHL goalie and not is consistency and showing up every day.ECHL: Looking back on your career to this point, what has been your proudest ‘hockey moment’ so far? KS: Hopefully it’s to come with winning a championship in the future. To date it’s probably getting drafted .
