RIO RANCHO, N.M. - The New Mexico Goatheads, ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Colorado Avalanche and American Hockey League’s Colorado Eagles, announced that the team has signed defenseman Brandon Chabrier to a contract for the 2026-27 season.
Chabrier arrives in New Mexico after completing a four-year collegiate career at the University of Maine. The Bayville, New York native appeared in 133 career games for the Black Bears, totaling 49 points (7g-42a) while helping lead the program to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
The 23-year-old enjoyed his most productive collegiate season in 2023-24, recording career-highs with six goals, 16 assists and 22 points in 37 games. He followed that with 12 assists in 31 games during his senior season before graduating from Maine.
Following his collegiate career, Chabrier signed with the Maine Mariners, making his professional debut late in the 2025-26 season. He appeared in four regular-season games and recorded his first professional point with an assist.
