Matt Register of the Atlanta Gladiators is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 28-Jan. 3. Register tallied eight assists in three games last week as the Gladiators went 2-1-0. The 26-year-old had three assists in a 4-0 win against Norfolk on Tuesday, added three assists in a 4-3 victory over the Admirals on Wednesday and picked up a pair of helpers in a 3-2 loss at Norfolk on Saturday. A native of Calgary, Register has 16 points (3g-13a) in 14 games with the Gladiators this season and enters the week on a five-game point streak (1g-10a). Register has 123 points (35g-88a) in 158 career ECHL games with Atlanta and Ontario. He was named ECHL Defenseman of the Year in 2013-14 and last season earned a spot on the All-ECHL First Team. On behalf of Matt Register, a case of pucks will be donated to an Atlanta youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 33,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
