The Indy Fuel went 3-0-0 against division opponents last week, giving the team seven wins in their last nine games and moving to within four points of first place in the Midwest Division with a record of 21-20-2 for 44 points. Indy opened last week with a 2-1 win over Quad City on Friday. Daniel Ciampini and Cody Sharib picked up the Fuel’s goals while Mac Carruth turned aside 29 of the 30 shots he faced to pick up the win in goal. On Saturday, the Fuel completed their two-game sweep of the Mallards with a 3-1 victory. Sharib set a career high with three assists to lead the way offensively for Indy while Rhett Bly picked up a goal and an assist. Shane Owen recorded the win with 27 saves. The Fuel ended the week with a 3-1 win against Fort Wayne on Sunday. Adam Lapsansky scored a pair of goals, Ciampini added two assists and Owen stopped 34 shots for his second straight win and fourth victory in his last five appearances. Alex Lavoie leads Indy on the season with 30 points (9g-21a) while Garett Bembridge paces with the club with 11 goals. Ben Marshall is second among rookie defensemen in the league with 23 points (5g-18a). The goaltending tandem of Carruth and Owen has been solid as the Fuel rank seventh in the league with 2.53 goals-against per game. Indy is on the road Wednesday at Cincinnati before returning home for games against Evansville on Friday and Saturday.
