Lazo named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

Johnny Lazo of the Colorado Eagles is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 25-31.Lazo scored five goals - including two game-winners - and added an assist for six points in three games last week.The 27-year-old had a hat trick in a 6-3 win over Utah on Wednesday and after going scoreless on Friday, added two more goals, as well as an assist, in a 7-2 victory over Alaska on Saturday.A native of Winnipeg, Lazo began the season with Vipiteno of Italy’s A League, tallying 35 points (16g-19a) in 22 games before signing with Colorado on Jan. 5. He has 12 points (9g-3a) in nine games with the Eagles.Lazo spent the previous five seasons with the University of Alberta, recording 132 points (55g-77a) in 136 games. Prior to joining the Golden Bears, he tallied 170 points (76g-94a) in 217 career games with Tri-City of the Western Hockey League.On behalf of Johnny Lazo, a case of pucks will be donated to a Colorado youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL.
