2015-16 CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week Q&AJack Campbell – February 8-14

ECHL: Congratulations on winning the CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week! This is the second time you’ve won this award this season. With so many talented Goaltenders in the ECHL this season, how do you set yourself apart? Jack Campbell: I'm fortunate to be a part of a great team here in Idaho. Our coaches have done a tremendous job of creating a winning environment and I feel we as players have embraced that attitude and its allowed us as individuals to have success. My strengths as a goaltender that separate me would be my athletic ability, quickness, and competitiveness. ECHL: What has been your favorite mask that you’ve ever sported in your professional career? JC: I can't really pick just one mask that's my favorite. I've always been a huge supporter of our troops so I dedicate each mask to them. Texas takes a lot of pride in our military so it's been a great fit with my passion for the troops as well as the state of Texas.ECHL: What professional goaltender would you say you model your game after? JC: Growing up I idolized Marty Turco. He is so athletic and an outstanding puck handler. I've always looked up to him as a person as well. He does so much for the community in Dallas and is such a generous guy. It's been an absolute privilege to get to know Marty on a personal level. As far as modeling my game I'd say I watch the most video on Jonathan Quick and Cory Schneider. I've always enjoyed the way Quick plays and how hard he competes. ECHL: You have one game of NHL experience under your belt. What do you think you need to work on most to get back to that level of play? JC: For me to get to the level I know I can be at on a consistent basis is all about consistency in my game. Being in Idaho has allowed me to play with confidence every night and when I do that it doesn't matter which level I'm at, I know I will be successful.ECHL: Looking back on your career to this point, what has been your proudest ‘hockey moment’ so far?JC: It's hard to pick just one hockey moment as my favorite. I love to win and live for the feeling of winning championships. Therefore, any one of my 3 gold medals as well as the Calder cup is up there with my favorite moments in hockey that I have accomplished.
