Blomstrand named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

Ludwig Blomstrand of the Kalamazoo Wings is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for March 21-27.Blomstrand scored five goals and added two assists for seven points last week. helping the K-Wings to a 4-0-0 record during the week.The 23-year-old had the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win at Adirondack on Tuesday, picked up an assist in a 3-2 victory at Reading on Wednesday, tallied a pair of goals in a 6-4 win over Wheeling on Friday and had three points (2g-1a) in a 5-1 victory against the Nailers on Saturday.A native of Uppsala, Sweden, Blomstrand is tied for seventh in the ECHL with a career-high 58 points (27g-31a) in 65 games this season and his six game-winning goals are tied for third in the league.Selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the fourth round (120th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Blomstrand has 130 points (74g-56a) in 164 career ECHL games with Kalamazoo and he has also seen action in 15 career American Hockey League games with Chicago and Utica.On behalf of Ludwig Blomstrand, a case of pucks will be donated to a Kalamazoo youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL.
