With a 16-5-1 record since Jan. 17, tied for the second-best record in the league over that span, and a seven-game unbeaten streak (6-0-1), the Cincinnati Cyclones have closed to within three points of Fort Wayne for first place in the Midwest Division. The Cyclones won both of their outings last week, beginning with a 6-2 win at Quad City on Friday. Six different players tallied goals in the victory while Jack Downing added four assists to pace the offense. Zach Budish (1g-2a), Jonathan Diaby (1g-1a), Joe Wilson (1g-1a) and Brett Wysopal (2a) each had mulit-point games as well and Andy Iles stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced to pick up the win in goal. Cincinnati kept the offense rolling on Saturday in a 5-1 victory at Indy. Wysopal had his second straight two-assist game while Downing had a goal and an assist in the win while Iles made 30 saves to improve to 9-1-1 in his last 11 starts. The Cyclones have outscored their opponents 31-13 during their seven-game unbeaten streak. Downing has potted a league-leading 27 goals this season and is ninth in the league with 52 points. Budish is right behind him in the league scoring race with 51 points (23g-28a) in 54 games. Nick Huard ranks eighth among ECHL rookies with 40 points (17g-23a) and his 13 power-play goals lead the league. The reigning ECHL Goaltender of the Month, Iles has posted a 13-5-1 record with two shutouts, a 2.28 goals-against average and a save percentage of .921 since making his Cyclones’ debut on Jan. 17. Cincinnati is in action three times this weekend, hosting Quad City on Friday and Saturday before visiting Indy on Sunday.
