The Eastern Conference Finals match-up will be decided tonight following a pair of Game 7s in the conference semifinals. Tonight's games are the 36th and 37th Game 7s in ECHL postseason history. The home team is 25-10 all-time in ECHL Game 7s, including 21 wins in the last 29 games. In Wheeling, the Nailers host Reading at 7:05 p.m. ET coming off of an 8-3 win in Game 6 on Monday. The Nailers tied an ECHL postseason record with six goals in the third period, breaking open a game that was tied 2-2 after 40 minutes. Wheeling is 1-2 in three previous Game 7s, with all three being decided in overtime. The Nailers defeated Greenville in the 2011 Eastern Conference Semifinals while falling to Toledo in the 2015 North Division Semifinals and to Cincinnati in the 2009 North Division Semifinals. Tonight is the first time the Nailers will host a Game 7 in team history. Reading is playing in a Game 7 for the third straight series, and is 2-2 all-time in Game 7s. The Royals defeated Toledo in the 2016 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals and Florida in the 2013 Eastern Conference Semifinals while falling to South Carolina in the 2015 East Division Semifinals and to Cincinnati in the 2010 American Conference Finals.The other Game 7 takes place at 7:05 p.m. ET at the North Charleston Coliseum with the South Carolina Stingrays hosting the Adirondack Thunder. South Carolina forced the decisive game with a 4-1 win last night. The Stingrays, who tied an ECHL record by playing in three Game 7s last year, are 3-1 all-time in decisive games holding wins over Alaska in the 2009 Kelly Cup Finals, Reading in the 2015 East Division Semifinals and Toledo in the 2015 Eastern Conference Finals while suffering a loss to Allen in the 2015 Kelly Cup Finals.
