West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced today that the team has signed defenseman Mike Banwell.
The Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Anaheim Ducks and the American Hockey League's San Diego Gulls.
Banwell, 29, has played in 228 professional games, including 132 in the ECHL, 68 in the AHL and 28 games last year in Sweden. A native of Scarborough, Ontario, Banwell has recorded 35 points (4g-31a) in ECHL stints with Trenton, Reading and Greenville.
Prior to turning pro, Banwell played four years at the University of Maine where he had 18 points (5g-13a) in 109 career games.
