ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces announced that they have signed forward Tyler Ruegsegger for the 2016-17 season.
The Aces are the ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League and the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League.
The 28-year-old played in 23 regular-season games for the Aces in 2010-11, scoring 15 points (9g-6a) before adding eight points (4g-4a) in eight playoff contests as Alaska captured the 2011 Kelly Cup title.Ruegsegger has seen action in the AHL with Abbotsford, Bridgeport and Hershey, playing in 95 total games and scoring 24 points (12g-12a).
Prior to turning pro, Ruegsegger had a four-year career at the University of Denver, where he was a three-time recipient of the Dr. Art Mason Award, which is bestowed upon the hockey team's best scholar-athlete. He was selected to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American Second Team in his junior and senior years at UD. In 147 total college games, Ruegsegger racked up 123 points (56g-67a) and 134 penalty minutes with the Pioneers.
