Grizzlies sign rookie forward Walsh

West Valley City, Utah – Utah Grizzlies Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham announced today that the team has signed rookie forward Shane Walsh.

The Grizzlies are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Anaheim Ducks and the American Hockey League's San Diego Gulls.

Walsh joins the Grizzlies for his first professional season after competing this summer in the Nashville Predators Rookie Camp. He led UMass-Amherst in goals and scoring during his senior season in 2015-16 with 18 goals and 30 points in 36 games.

The Massachusetts native notably scored a goal in the fifth overtime of the Hockey East Tournament in 2015-16 against Notre Dame, lighting the lamp 151:42 into the contest. The stick he used on that goal is currently in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
