Allen, Texas – The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, announced today that the club is bringing back forward Jonathan Lessard for the 2017-18 season.
Lessard returns to Allen after playing last year in Europe for Angers in France, where he was fourth on the team in scoring with 27 points in 40 games, only five points behind the team’s leading scorer.
Lessard led the Americans in scoring with 57 points (28g-29a) in 62 games in his only year in Allen during the 2013-14 season. He was a part of the Americans first Presidents’ Cup Championship team in the Central Hockey League.
He has 142 games in the ECHL with four different teams; Norfolk, Bakersfield, Utah and San Francisco. He last played in the ECHL in the 2015-16 season with Norfolk, scoring 25 points (14g-11a) in 51 games.
The native of St-Eustache, Quebec played his major junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and Acadie-Bathurst Titan. His best year in juniors came in 2010-11, where he had 66 points (37g-29a) in 62 games.
