Henegar back with K-Wings

KALAMAZOO, Mich. —The Kalamazoo Wings and forward Scott Henegarhave agreed to terms for the 2017-18 season.

The K-Wings are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Vancouer Canucks and the American Hockey League's Utica Comets.

Henegar, 27, skated in 71 games with the K-Wings last season and was a valuable contributor in various situations. The native of Trenton, Mich. notched 23 points (14g-9a) during his rookie campaign.

Henegar’s 71 games played last year tied for second most by any Kalamazoo skater during the 2016-17 season, and his 14 goals were good enough for second most among the team’s rookies. He made the opening night roster and debuted in Norfolk on October 14, 2016, after earning a spot from a training camp tryout.

Though a second-year pro by ECHL standards, Henegar has been in the professional ranks since 2015-16 when he was a member of the Huntsville Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League. During that season with the Havoc, he was able to amass 35 points (24g-11a) in 56 games.

Before turning pro, the versatile forward appeared in 172 junior games with the Marquette Rangers and Michigan Warriors of the North American Hockey League and earned 116 points (42g-74a) and added 246 penalty minutes. Once his junior career concluded, he skated for four years with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he was a three-year alternate captain and scored 75 points (37g-38a).
