Rookie Baillargeon signs with Stingrays

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The South Carolina Stingrays, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Washington Capitals and AHL’s Hershey Bears, have agreed to terms with rookie forward Robbie Baillargeon for the 2017-18 season. The native of Enfield, Conn. recently finished his college career at Arizona State and will make his professional debut with the Stingrays.

During the 2016-17 season with the Sun Devils, Baillargeon played in 28 games and tied for the team lead in scoring with 21 points (9g-12a). He also played three seasons at Boston University, helping lead the Terriers to a Hockey East Championship and an appearance in the NCAA National Championship game in 2015. In three seasons at BU from 2013-16, Baillargeon played 101 games and registered 55 points (19g-36a).

Baillargeon, 23, was a fifth-round selection of the Ottawa Senators (136th overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Before playing in college, Baillargeon spent two seasons in the United States Hockey League from 2011-13 with the Indiana Ice and Omaha Lancers, posting 89 points (32g-57a) in 109 total games. He also starred at Cushing Academy for two years from 2009-11 and was named to the NEPSIHA All-Star Team after scoring 64 points (30g-34a) in 32 games during the 2010-11 season.
