Eagles add National Champion Ausmus

WINDSOR, Colo. – The Colorado Eagles, ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced that they have signed defenseman Gage Ausmus for the 2017-18 season.

Ausmus recently concluded a four-year career at the University of North Dakota where he served as the team’s captain in both his junior and senior season, becoming just the fourth two-time captain in the last 25 years at UND. Ausmus generated 29 points (6g-23a) in 143 NCAA contests, playing at a combined +35 while also helping lead UND to a National Championship in 2016.

A fifth-round selection (151st overall) of the San Jose Sharks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Ausmus was a member of both the U.S. National Under-17 and Under-18 teams. The East Grand Forks, Minn. native helped both squads capture Silver Medals, while also being named to the 2012 Under-17 WHC All-Star Team.
