WHEELING, W.Va. - The Wheeling Nailers, ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, announced the club has signed forward Hunter Fejes for the 2017-18 season.
Fejes, 23, is entering his second full season of professional hockey, after spending his first campaign in the Arizona Coyotes organization with the Rapid City Rush and AHL's Tucson Roadrunners. He finished fourth in scoring on the Rush, amassing 38 points (18g-20a) in 48 games. In 19 games with Tucson, he recorded five points (1g-4a).
Prior to turning pro, the Anchorage, Alaska native attended Colorado College, where he majored in Economics, while playing college hockey for the Tigers. Fejes' best season came during his senior year, when he led Colorado College in scoring with 22 points (13g-9a) in 36 games. Over the course of his four years in Colorado Springs, Fejes tallied 56 points (26g-30a) in 138 games. He joined the AHL's Springfield Falcons for 10 games at the conclusion of his college career, after being selected in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Coyotes.
