INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -The Kansas City Mavericks have signed goaltender Ty Rimmer for the 2017-18 season.
The Mavericks are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames and the American Hockey League's Stockton Heat.
Rimmer has played professionally since the 2012-13 season when he broke into the AHL with the Manchester Monarchs. He has since played for the Oklahoma City Barons (2013-14) and the Bakersfield Condors (2015-16).
Last year, the Edmonton, Alberta, native competed for the Vipiteno Sterzing Broncos of the Alps Hockey League, playing in 31 games and postong a 2.36 goals-against average with a .921 save percentage.
The 25-year-old also brings ECHL experience to Kansas City with stints with Bakersfield (2014-15) and Norfolk (2015-16). He has played 59 games with the two teams and carries a 22-24-7 record in net.
Prior to his professional career, Rimmer spent time with the Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings, Prince George Cougars, Tri-City Americans and Lethbridge Hurricanes over five seasons.
