WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester Railers Hockey Club, ECHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, announced that the club has signed forward Frankie DiChiara to a contract for the 2017-18 season.
DiChiaria joins the Railers after spending the last four years at Yale University, where he played in 128 games and recorded 72 points (30g-42a), 71 penalty minutes and a +8 rating for the Bulldogs.
The Ronkonkoma, N.Y. native had the best overall season of his career last year, playing in 31 games, recording 21 points (10g-11a), and receiving the John Poinier award, which is awarded to the school's best defensive player.
Prior to joining the Bulldogs, DiChiara was a member of the 2012-13 Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United State Hockey League. He played in 64 games for the Fighting Saints and put up 60 points (30g-30a), 18 penalty minutes, and a +26 rating. He also spent a year with the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League playing in 59 games, and recording 51 points (23g-28a), 28 penalty minutes, and a +20 rating.
