ESTERO, Fla. – Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Brad Ralph announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Matt Berry for the 2017-18 season.
The Everblades are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes and the American Hockey League's Charlotte Checkers.
Berry returns for a second season in Southwest Florida where he registered career highs in points (68), goals (24) and assists (44) in 70 games last season. The 25-year-old also accumulated an impressive 12 points in 11 playoff games last spring.
During the 2015-16 season, Berry logged 37 points (16g-21a) in 38 games played with the Utah Grizzles. During that same season, Berry also posted four points (3g-1a) in 15 games with the American Hockey League’s San Diego Gulls.
The Canton, Mich. native totaled 96 points (48g-48a) during his four-year career at Michigan State University from 2011-15. Following his senior campaign with the Spartans, Berry began his pro career appearing in five games for the AHL's Norfolk Admirals in the spring of 2015.
