Defenseman McNally joins Railers

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester Railers Hockey Club, ECHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, announced that the club has signed defenseman Patrick McNally to a contract for the 2017-18 season.

McNally joins the Railers after spending the last two seasons playing for the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League. The 25-year-old was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the fourth round (115th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

In two seasons with the Barracuda, the Glen Head, N.Y. native played in 94 games, and recorded 18 points (4g-14a), 47 penalty minutes, and a +14 rating.

Before joining the Barracuda, McNally played in 82 games for the Harvard Crimson from 2011-15, and posted 60 points (14g-46a) and a +7 rating. He was named to the ECAC Hockey All-League Third Team, All-Rookie squad and an ECAC Hockey Rookie finalist in his freshman season. McNally was also the recipient of Harvard’s George Percy award, awarded to Harvard’s top rookie, and was named ECAC Rookie of the Month for 2011.

In his last season with the Crimson, the blueliner led all Harvard defensemen in points, goals, assists and game-winning goals, and ranked second amongst team defenders in plus/minus and third in shots on goal. He led all ECAC defensemen in goals, was tied for third in points and plus/minus and tied for fourth in assists. McNally helped the Crimson win the ECAC championship, and was named to the ECAC All-Tournament Team, an ECAC Second Team All-Star, as well as to the NCAA All-Ivy League Second Team.
