Wichita signs defenseman Labrecque

Wichita, Kan. - The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Edmonton Oilers and AHL's Bakersfield Condors, announced the signing of defenseman Samuel Labrecque.

Labrecque begins his second year as a pro after playing last year for Villacher SV in Austria (EBEL). A native of Granby, Quebec, the 25-year-old recorded 26 points (13g-13a) in 52 games last season.

Prior to heading overseas, Labrecque played three seasons at Clarkson University before finishing his college career at McGill University. He registered 42 points (17g-25a) in 93 NCAA games with the Golden Knights. He transferred to McGill in 2014-15 and was named the McGill Athlete of the Year during his senior campaign, tallying 44 points (16g-28a) in just 28 games.
