ECHL mourns loss of former player Andrew Carroll

The ECHL and its member teams mourn the loss and express their condolences to the family and friends of former ECHL player Andrew Carroll, who passed away on Monday at the age of 32.

Carroll began his pro career in the ECHL with Charlotte in 2008-09, following the completion of his collegiate career at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He went on to appear in 258 career ECHL games over six seasons with Charlotte, Greenville, Bakersfield and Idaho, recording 137 points (72g-65a) and adding 428 penalty minutes. Carroll also saw action in 148 career games in the American Hockey League with Connecticut, Hershey, Abbotsford, Peoria and Hartford, tallying 19 points (5g-14a) and posting 250 penalty minutes.

During his time at Minnesota-Duluth, Carroll became the only individual in the 74-year history of UMD hockey to hold some type of team captaincy role for at least part of four different seasons as he served as a tri-captain during his final collegiate go-around in 2008-09,  co-captained the Bulldogs as a sophomore, and was an alternate team captain in 2007-08 and for the month of December while a rookie. He was also a three-time Western Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team honoree.
